Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots [PS3]

Great game play. Shame about the cut scenes that make you want to eat your own face.

Summary

MGS4's game play is deep and diverse. As always, stealth is Snake's greatest ally and the ways in which you can outwit your foes are plentiful. Having said that, it also makes for a fun shooter, and if you don't fancy being sneaky, you can opt to storm buildings with an impressive arsenal. Having both styles available makes for a really good time and allows you to change tactics frequently and play using a style that suits you.

The environments are also top notch and take you from war torn battlefield to snow capped islands- they look amazing. It's just a shame that you don't get to spend more time within them. Just as you're getting into the flow of a mission you'll stumble helplessly into a cut scene that will break your pace and continue to run for an agonising amount of time. Be prepared to endure frequent animations, some of which that last for well over an hour. It's a shame. A cut scene is used to gently move the narrative along, but here it bulldozers the game play and leaves you totally out of the onscreen action for a long, long time. For me, it ruined what might have been a perfect game. I was left with around 4 hours of actual time spent in game (which was an absolute blast!) but the rest of the time I spent trying to gnaw off my own ears just to escape the boredom of a game that all too often becomes a tediously long movie.

A complete masterpiece.

Summary

I would have preferred controlling a Solid Snake rather than an Old Snake, but beggars can't be choosers huh? This is what they gave us and this is what we took. I will not let my personal opinion diminish any of the great things this game has to offer. It has a solid storyline, it has a solid gameplay, it has a solid background, it has way too solid graphics, it has a solid intense events that will make you play for more hours to get to the next part. It may have solidly long cutscenes but that's MGS, it will not live without the story telling, it can be skipped if you're just into the game so it should not bother players/gamers that much.

MGS 4 offers a lot of solid concept that makes this game very interesting. The stealth action game play, the challenge of making sure you don't kill anybody to get better rewards, the upgrading/customizing of weapons are few of the good things about this game as well. But the heart and soul of this game is not only with the great graphics, the recurring characters and whatnot but with the story and history that the genius Hideo Kojima placed into this game.

It is a game that will ask you more questions and will make you want more. I just hope they make an MGS:5 since the MGS: Rising became MGR:Revengeance. If they make a sequel then I'm definitely going to get it pre ordered and taken in day one.

One of the the best games ever made. Great story, stunning graphics, great gameplay, and above all breath taking ending.

Summary

This game represents everything that should be included in good game: Starting from deep, complicated story finishing on gameplay mechanics; this game set new standards for gaming industry, that has not been beaten after 3 years.

First thing everyone will notice is amount of details, as well as story is so great that you are very well motivated to fight and progress. Every level can be explored in 10 different ways, every boss can be defeated also in few ways, so there is always reason to go back and try again.

There is really so much to talk about that it's hard to start, so I won't try. I'll just say that everyone should try it. Actually, this game is obligatory title for everyone who dare to call himself 'player', no matter on which system you are playing.

It's really shame that there is so few games like this one, where killing is not good thing, where war is treated as disease, and main character feels like real person.

An epic conclusion to an epic series. Amazing plot, near flawless gameplay. Kojima proves why he is the father of action

Summary

Metal Gear Solid 4 starts out slow, You once again assume the role of Solid Snake, and you are instantly tossed into a battlefeild. If your a fan of Metal Gear the begining just doesn't feel like Metal Gear Solid, but that quickly turns tables as you progress through the game. The nice thing about his game is it story explains events so well that, those who have never played a Metal Gear in there life will be able to follow.

Metal Gear Solid is a very story driven game, and by far one of the best stories to be told inside of a video game. The story picks up where Metal Gear Solid 2 Sons of Liberty left off. Liquid has a huge plan that he wishes to carry out. Snake is weak and getting old its unclear at first as to what is causing this. The story unfolds through this epic conclusion a plot that spans over 50 years.

Metal Gear Solids gamplay is a typical Metal Gear Solid, lots of stealth, sneaking around, and shooting enemies with guns. It gunplay is near flawless it works so well with aiming. Series fans will find it awkward to use the shoulder buttons, but its a change tha is quickly learned.

The bad guys in the game were really cool The Beauty and The Beast Unit was awesome. A group of ladies who have had tramatizing pasts, after each fight you are told a story about how, Laughing Octopus, Raging Raven, Crying Wolf, and Screaming Mantis came to be. each story is creepy, unique, and sad all at he same time. The battles are very unique too, consisting from fighting a one tha can camaflauge itself, to one that flys around on a giant tower, one where you have to snipe an enemy as she attacks, to a puppeteer that controls corpses of dead and livng.

Metal Gear Solid 4 will undoubtfully go down as one of my favorite PS3 games, seeing characters from all across the series, from Raiden and Rosemary to Eva and Ocelot. It was a worthy conclusion and installment to my favorite action series. Kojima proves again why he is one of the best developers of this day. Metal Gear Solid 4 is the best in the series and is one of the best games, if not the best game I hav ever played. Though the series was concluded, I can garentee Metal Gear will be a series I will play and follow for as long as they make them. 10/10

Metal Gear Solid 4 is the proof that if a company cares for the game, then the game can be amazing.

Summary

I haven't played any Metal Gear game before but when Guns Of the Patriots was released back in 2008 I have read various reviews from different websites and all was saying the same thing, the game is amazing. So I decided to give it a try and I was left with no words on how amazing this game is. From the story to graphics and audio and gameplay. All was amazing and you have to look extremely close to find any flaws. The thing that simple shines in the game is the graphics. The game was released three years ago and it still can compare with games today. They have done a job for consoles just like crysis foe pc's. The voice acting and the soundtrack are just beautiful and so much in detail. The actors really did a great job with the voices and the composer has really surpass himself making the music. The story is as realist as a Hollywood movie can be. Although you must read the story from the previous games for the game to make sense because the game is extremely relying on it's story and if you don't know the story you'd better not play it. That's what most people don't like. But if you know the story you are going to find inside all you have ever wanted in a game. Especially the ending will leave you ecstatic in front of one of the best games ever made (for me). But be sure that you will spend half the time of the game watching cutscenes and that what is make most people annoyed. But if you are among the people that can stand the cutscenes and the story then you have find the reason to buy a ps3.
