Summary

I am sure like me , you have been hearing about the Kinect Sports 2 for a while and couldn't wait to get a copy. I bought it the day it came out and played a lot.

The good:

Golf is very exciting and the graphics are very well done. The crowd noise and cheering is motivating.
Skiing : It is very interesting and the graphics again are pretty good. There is several courses so it makes it different.
Tennis: it is way better than the previous tennis we have seen with Kinect Freedom but it is very easy. I did beat all levels on the 1st try.

The bad:

Darts : it just doesnt work. The darts go everywhere and sometimes even opposite direction of what you were aiming. It is very annoying and after a while, you will stop trying.

Baseball: The pitching is kinda fun, batting is kinda fun too but the rest is very lame. A lot of the plays are automatic ( Like Atari's in the 80's) and catching a ball requires you to put your hand on the matching green spot on your screen. Kinect is suppose to be a bit more active, you could easily do this sitting.

football: even more lame. you can only run forward and you ALWAYS get caught even if you were ahead by a lot. You dont even see what the other teams does when you are on defense. Seems to me, that Football and baseball weren't ready and they decided to launch it anyways.

Even though 3 out of 6 of the games are kinda good , i would expect something better when I buy games. Especially when you see how Football was with Motion sports , this is going backward BIG TIME .

I will now rent games since it is happening too often now that Kinect games are just horrible.

Kinect Sports Season 1 was great fun, unfortunately Season 2 doesn't live up to its name.

Summary

I'll be honest I really enjoyed the first Kinect Sport and recommend it to any Kinect owner to pick up that game. In many ways that's why I was so surprised by how little I enjoyed Kinect Sports Season 2.

I think the biggest difference in my opinion is this: In the original Kinect Sports it feels like you are doing everything. For example in Ping Pong it tracks all your movements. You could be standing on one leg while playing and it reflects this on screen. Same goes for playing goalie in soccer and other sports. This was a lot of fun as it felt like I was part of the experience.

In Kinect Sports Season 2 I can't help but feel disconnected from the game. For example in none of the games does my Avatar reflect my real life motions. In Tennis it run on its own (And then doesn't stand like how you stand), in Baseball it doesn't match my stance, golf is the same. The other thing is I can play Kinect Sports Season 2 while sitting on the couch and drinking a bee... I mean Chocolate milk. Maybe this appeals to some people, but I want to feel like I'm part of the experience and not simply a spectator.

Not only does the motion not reflect my real life self disconnect me from the game, but it also impacts the gameplay. For example in golf and baseball I can do a slight movement barely moving and it will hit the ball really hard. (In real life it would move 5 feet.) This didn't happen in the original game. For example in Ping Pong you could hit it hard and the ball would go hard. You could hit it light as well. Everything about Kinect Sports Season 2 just feels dumbed down to the point of being mind numbing. Basically the game requires ZERO skill and while this might be fun on the first play. You quickly realize you've mastered the game by simply popping in the disc.

Score Breakdown:

Graphics: 7.5/10
Sound: 8/10
Gameplay: 4/10
Overall: 5/10 (Not an average.)

Very good game but can't compare to Kinect Sports 1 as I haven't got it.

Summary

I cannot compare to Kinect Sport 1 but this game is good to me because I like the realism in the game. In american football the throw is responsive, Baseball can't be faulted, Darts responds well but put the hand you're not throwing with hidden, golf on the screen responds rubbish but when it comes to the stroke, it stokes fine, skiing can barely be improved and tennis can be improved. On American Football, when you throw the ball, it can, on the game, be thrown the wrong way entirely and be an incomplete pass. The tennis player is hard to control and hitting it hard (if you have limited space) is very very hard.

You are given a level which is decided on how many fans you have. The better you are at a sport, the more fans you will get. For example - In darts, if you are amazing, you get fans by beating your opponent, scoring 180 and completing a checkout on your first 3 darts.

Season 2 for Kinect is everything you would expect, and while it is fun, there appears to be a lack of depth.

Kinect Sports: Season Sports 2 (Kinect for Xbox 360)
Written By: xGlenn11x

If you follow my reviews, you will notice this is my shortest yet. That is not to say that Kinect Sports: Season 2 is not fun, just that there is not much to say about it. When the Kinect launched at the end of 2010, one of the premier titles was Kinect Sports. 2011 saw the release of Kinect Sports: Season 2, which features six new sports to move your way into. While each of the six are fun and easy to get into, you almost feel like there should be more choices to accommodate you. You are able to play baseball, football, darts, golf, skiing, and tennis. Each of the six provides the ability for at least two players to play, with golf and darts allowing up to four.

Each of the sports is responsive, and I didn't have many problems with the sensor detecting certain movements or actions. My main argument with the game is that each of the sports can become very repetitive. The game has already seen some DLC, but that is not enough. And playing single-player can get boring enough when you are going against a lackluster A.I. Keep your friends close when playing this Kinect game.

All-in-all, Season 2 for Kinect is a joyful experience, and a fun one that will last you for a long time to come. Not much needs to be said about this fun experience. Each of the sports will provide hours of fun, whether you are with family or friends. The single-player experience does not feel as engaging when playing alone, but it will still entice those lonely souls out there. If you are a fan of any party game or family game, Kinect Sports will definitely not disappoint.

(+,-)

+Fun with family or friends.
+DLC could really expand on the experience.
-Single-player lacks the multiplayer fun.
-Sports can feel repetitive.
